Bridgeport seek another big win

BRIDGEPORT Comprehensive High will be the centre of attention in tomorrow's round of ISSA/Pepsi/JN Manning Cup games after their big 7-0 win in their first match-up.

Bridgeport have displayed that they are a team to watch and will face Meadowbrook at Ferdie Neita Park in an interesting match-up.

Meadowbrook are one of those dangerous schools that could prove spoilers with a team that has last season as experience.

However, Meadowbrook got off to an inauspicious start this season after they were bested in a 2-0 affair against newcomers Eltham.

That could have dented their confidence but on the other hand it might have made them hungry to prove a point against the group's kingpins.

For their part, Bridgeport's coach Anthony Patrick has said that despite a 7-0 win, his team was not finished working because they were not quite where they wanted to be.

"In the first game, the second-half was below par so we have been trying to get them to play for 90 minutes," said Patrick, who indicated that once his team plays positively and with some degree of discipline, they should do well.

In other games from Group 'E', Holy Trinity will host St. Jago, while Kingston College await the high-flying Eltham.

First wins of season

Kingston College and Eltham have already produced their first wins of the season and will be looking towards consolidation to ensure they are among the leaders as the competition pans out.

In Group 'C', Norman Manley go to the Jamintel Sports Club for their game against Penwood, while Campion look for their first win when they host Clan Carthy.

In the final game of the group, St. Andrew Technical visit the Tony Spaulding Sports Complex for a game against Trench Town.

In Group 'A', the big match-up will be between hosts Mona and Jamaica College.

Both teams have a point from their first game and are anxious to get into the winners' circle.

In the other game from the group, José Marti, who are still winless, will go to the Clan Carthy playing field to face Kingston Technical (KTHS).

KTHS are playing in their first game of the competition and will be hungry for a good start.

All games start at 3:30 p.m.
