THE CASE OF a 17-year-old boy, who is charged with rape, has been transferred to the Family Court for trial.
The juvenile, who pleaded not guilty to the charge, is alleged to have raped an 18-year old woman, whom he used to attend school with when they were younger.
It's alleged that on the evening of Friday, September 9, the boy went to visit the female at her home in Springfield, St. James. They were sitting on the veranda conversing, when the boy held the girl's hand and pulled her inside the living room and removed his underpants. He them pulled her into the bedroom where she was reportedly raped.
The girl's mother reported the allege rape to the police several days later after she began hearing rumours in the community that her daughter had been raped.
When the police cautioned the accused, he acknowledge going to the girl's house but said he did not rape her.
He was granted bail in the sum of $40,000 and is to report to the Springmount Police Station every Tuesday and Thursday between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. He was also warned not to go anywhere near the complainant. The accused is to appear in the Family Court on October 23.
