Man wanted for murder captured

By ANALEE BERNARD, Star Writer

ST. ELIZABETH

A MAN WHO was wanted for murder, but was on the run from the Black River police, was captured in Bull Bay, St. Andrew on August 31.

He is Rohan Taylor, 24, labourer of Croft Ford district, St. Elizabeth, who is now charged with the murder of Leton 'Handicap' Cunningham, 42.

Taylor appeared before RM Stanley Clarke, to answer to the charge on Wednesday, September 14.

The allegations are that on Wednesday, July 26 at about 1:45 a.m., both men were patrons at the Front Line exotic club when a dispute developed over a go-go dancer. It is alleged that during the dispute between the men, a knife was used to stab Cunningham in the right side of his neck.

Cunningham was taken to the Black River Hospital where he was treated and sent home. At about 7:30 a.m. the same morning he complained of feeling pain in the region of his chest. He collapsed and was taken back to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Taylor fled the scene and could not be found by the police, until he was captured. He is to return to court on November 2 when his case will again be mention.
