Former JTA president dies

MICHAEL CLARKE, THE immediate past president of the Jamaica Teachers' Association (JTA), has died.

Mr. Clarke, the former vice-principal of the Flankers Primary and Junior High School in Montego Bay, St. James, died on Monday.

Due to illness, Mr. Clarke had assumed the presidency in December last year, almost four months behind the time he was scheduled to take office.

On August 22 this year, an obviously ill Mr. Clarke, the 37th president of the JTA, installed Ruel Reid as his successor.
