IT'S BACK TO school time and $3.2 million would go more than a far way for punters hunting this weekend's enticing Pick-9 carryover at Caymanas Park.
In addition, Saturday's 12-race card will carry a double Pick-6, races 1-6 and 7-12, each carrying guaranteed jackpots worth $500,000, setting up a possible $1 million pay out should punters get by the first six races.
In all, jackpots could soar in excess of $5 million, considering more than $1 million was wagered in Wednesday's Pick-9 pool.
The Pick-9 opens at the 1200-metre fourth race in which LIGHTNING BINGO can be used as a banker. Most Pick-9 players lack the guts to put it all on the line in the very first race but a banker is a banker wherever it may be.
LIGHTNING BINGO has the best form to recommend among eight Maiden runners and will be partnered by Wesley Henry after just failing to get off the mark in his last race, failing by a short head to nab FACING FAME at 1000 metres straight two weeks ago.
FROMRUSSIAWITHLOVE gets the nod in the fifth race at 1400 metres following his good win at a mile on a lower tag recently. The six-year-old gelding has won three of his last four races and won't mind the reduction in journey.
ASYNJUR, who had pipped FROMRUSSIAWITHLOVE for second behind HAPHAZARD at 1820 metres, remains a live threat having suffering interference at the half-mile that afternoon. However, FROMRUSSIAWITHLOVE's strong early pace should take him clear of ASYNJUR before she gets rolling in the stretch run.
TYRONE SON is not the best drawn at post position one in the 1000-metre straight sixth race but is back to form and could be superior to his 12 rivals after his strong second behind HIGH CHASE two Wednesdays ago.
YAHABIBI, who is drawn under the stands' side, will try making all. However, TYRONE SON's mid-race pace should have him racing close midway the race and the grey should prove too strong for the filly YAHABIBI coming up the hill.
CHRISTMAS GIFT and LOCHNESS DRAGON are twin bankers in the seventh and eighth races respectively. Beaten by PRINCESS SUE and LAW LORD on debut at 800 metres straight, CHRISTMAS GIFT looks ripe to get off the mark at 1100 metres and LOCHNESS DRAGON should outclass rivals in the eighth at a mile.
SAYONARA in the ninth, NASATOL in the 10th, MAGIC DRAGON in the 11th and LEGENDARY GLITZ should round off a winning Pick-9 bet.
SAYONARA found stablemate CAUCHEE too hot to follow last time out when settling for third but will be tough to beat at 1100 metres. Charles Hussey had the pick of four Wayne DaCosta-trained horses in the 10th and chose NASATOL so respect his judgement.
Finally, MAGIC DRAGON has only ROSE BUD to fear in the Cecil C. Charlton trophy and LEGENDARY GLITZ should go one better after chasing home PRETTY HILLY last time out.
