JAMAICA NATIONAL BUILDING Society (JNBS) were crowned 2005 KSAFA Business House Division Two football champions on Wednesday when they defeated Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS) 3-2 in extra time in the final at the Cable & Wireless Sports Club.
The Chris Bender-coached JNBS started the match nervously and were forced into some strong defending as BNS came at them in the first 20 minutes.
Missed chances by Ludrick Leith, Nicholas McCreath, Ryan Clake and Omar Ferguson kept JNBS in the game.
First time entrants JNBS gradually settled with Leo Ormsby and Ian Lindsay taking control of the vital midfield area with their accurate passing and firm tackling.
They went into the lead in the 36th minute when Andrew Gill overlapped down the right wing and crossed to the centre. The BNS defence failed to clear properly and Ian Lindsay collected the ball and shot past a diving Joseph Sardath in goal. The half ended 1-0.
BNS came out attacking in the second half and got the equaliser in the 66th minute when McCreath lobbed a cross from Ryan Clarke over the head of goalkeeper Marvin Robinson. The match ended at 1-1 at full time.
JNBS regained the lead in the 106th minute when Kevin Daley took advantage of a mix up in the BNS defence to lob the ball into the back of the net. He got his second goal in the 108th minute when he unleashed a scorcher which flew past Sardath.
This goal sent the JNBS supporters into wide celebrations. BNS managed to pull a goal back in the last minute of extra time through central defender Ghana Burrowes.
