Stars talk 'Rising Stars'

By TEINO EVANS, Staff Reporter

Rising Star, Christopher Martin. - Winston Sill

THE RISING STARS competition has been going on for a while and many people have been giving their opinions behind closed doors not many have come out with their predictions.

Of course the best people to ask are the professionals, entertainers who know what it takes to thrill a crowd. This week, entertainers DYCR and DJ Assassin give their impressions on the current crop of Rising Stars.

DYCR believes the Rising Stars competition is a good way of unearthing talent and endorses it fully.

"Overall I think the show is a good exposure for new talent and you can see that some of these people are very talented. Christopher Martin is very talented and Noddy Virtue can sing. Mi rate Daynea Deacon as well an mi a carry Face to. I think 'Q' want a whole heap a work pon, dem nuh really touch mi," DYCR said.

However, if DYCR had to pick only one winner, he said it would be Chris.

"Di yout weh name Christopher, him have potential fi guh far. Mi wi gi di yout Christopher, but a nuh any an any tune him fi sing. Di Beres neva fit him an di Jah Cure coulda pass cause it relatively new," he said.

DYCR also added that the contestants who were unable to make the top ten still garnered much from the exposure of the competition.

"Some a di people dem weh neva come out in the top ten, di levels weh dem come out pon television wid help dem wid dem self esteem an may inspire other youts, suh di Rising Stars ting mi fully endorse it," he said.

Deejay Assassin, who had the opportunity to interact closely with the final five contestants in the 'chill room' last week Sunday at the live studio performance show, did not single out a contestant but believes the show encourages positive behaviour in the finalists.

"I was very impressed with the comraderie among the contestants, they support each other and they all seem to be friends and overall I think that the competition is good exposure," he said.
