A MAN WHO appeared before the May Pen Resident Magistrate's Court recently to answer to the charge of carnal abuse, had his bail extended and his matter set for mention on September 12, 2005.
He is Patrick Green, 19, of Dampy district, Clarendon.
The allegations against Green are that he and the complainant were having an intimate relationship earlier this year when she got pregnant. Both were said to be attending the same educational institution when the relationship developed. The complainant is said to be five months pregnant.
Clerk of Court, Miss Findley, told the court that in a caution statement, Green told police officers that he was not aware of the complainant's age.
Attorney-at-law representing the accused, Hopeton Clarke, questioned the paternity of the child the 15-year- old complainant was carrying.
Senior Resident Magistrate, Glen Brown, responded that that was not the case at this point, but to determine if the act of sex was ever committed.
Mr. Clarke said that his client did not deny that fact, and was in fact willing to provide support for the complainant.
