A MAN WHO appeared in the May Pen Resident Magistrate's Court recently to answer to a charge of robbery with aggravation, shooting with intent and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition was denied bail, while a female who appeared on a charge of receiving stolen property, had her bail extended.
The accused man is Franklyn Morgan while the female is Treshana Campbell, of Scotts Pass district, Clarendon.
Investigating officer Detective Corporal B. Thompson objected to bail for Morgan citing that he has no permanent address and is, therefore, considered a flight risk.
Senior Resident Magistrate Glen Brown, who presided over the matter questioned Campbell about the stolen goods, to which she responded that she was unaware that they were stolen.
The allegations against Morgan are that on July 21, he robbed the complainant, Kenval Bryan, of a Toyota Hiace minibus with clothes and shoes all valued at $1,480,000, after he blocked his path and ordered him to exit the vehicle.
When the complainant refused, he was fired on by the accused.
Detective Corporal Thompson explained to the court that the stolen vehicle was recovered four days later in Montego Bay, being driven by another person. The police later received information which led to the arrest of Morgan and Campbell.
Both are booked to return to court on August 26, when their matter will again be mentioned.
