GUATEMALA CITY, GUATEMALA, CMC

TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO'S Dexter St Louis is Caribbean men's singles table tennis champion for a third time, after securing a tense win over Mexico's Guillermo Munoz in the final Saturday night.

France-based St Louis fended off the Mexican's challenge 11-9, 6-11, 11-8, 11-9, 14-12 to add to previous titles he had won in 1998 and 2004.

St Louis also won the men's doubles gold medal for Trinidad and Tobago, teaming with Anthony Brown.

En route to gold

In the women's singles championship, Izzwa Medina, of Honduras, registered a semi-final win over Trinidad and Tobago's English-speaking Caribbean number one Rheanna Chung, en route to the gold medal.

She defeated Mexican Sarah Rosas in straight sets in the final. Hosts Guatemala played unbeaten to capture the men's team title, winning 3-0 over Puerto Rico in the final.

Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago shared third and Jamaica placed sixth.

El Salvador prevented a team sweep for the home side, capturing the women's team title with a 3-0 win over Guatemala.
