THE PRINCIPAL OF the Boscobel Primary and Junior High School in St. Mary was murdered yesterday afternoon.
Manning Marsh, 56, was stabbed in the school's library and died after struggling to the front of the school building.
According to police reports, at about 12:30 p.m. citizens saw two men running from the compound into bushes. Shortly after, upon investigating, Marsh's body was found with stab wounds to the neck.
The Ministry of Education has expressed shock and grief at the murder. According to Dorrett Campbell, director of communications and policy coordination in the Ministry, "The entire school community is still reeling in shock of the death ... we have sent an officer to treat the needs of the bereaved family, including the school family, and we extend our condolences to them"
She said the counselling is in an effort to "help the school to get through the tragic circumstances," and in the meantime, they "are awaiting police reports for motives ... and we sincerely hope that the perpetrators will be brought to justice."
The Oracabessa police, who are investigating, have not yet theorised a motive for his death.
