THE RIVERSDALE POLICE in St. Catherine, are trying to ascertain the identity of a male who was taken from a sinkhole in the area on Tuesday.

Reports reaching THE STAR are that the male, who is believed to be in his early 30s, was found in the Top Hill area near Riversdale, after a passer-by, went to investigate a foul odour and found the man's body in the sinkhole.

According to Detective Sergeant, Paul Thomas, the authorities are having some concerns as to how they will get the body to the road as its location is about two miles into the bushes.

He added that, while the body has not yet been identified, the police are following certain leads with regard to who the person might be.

The body was found at about 2:30 p.m., in an advanced stage of decomposition
