LANCELOT REID, A man of questionable mental health who is on a murder charge, was remanded in custody when he appeared before the Corporate Area Resident's Magistrate Court yesterday.
The court heard that on May 14 at about 3 a.m., an eyewitness saw Reid, otherwise known as 'Brownman', at the Esso Tigermart at the corner of Washington Boulevard and Molynes Road. It is alleged that Reid said 'John Pope' was giving him trouble and a broken bottle was used to stab the deceased in his neck. He died on the spot.
When Reid appeared in court he told Resident Magistrate Martin Gayle that he had been in trouble before and had been in the Bellvue Hospital. The case was set for mention again on September 29.
