'DANCEHALL DIVA' KIEVA is thanking God for life after surviving a robbery at her home two weeks ago during which a gun was held to her head.
Kieva, whose real name is Kieva Hibbert, said on the night in question, she returned to her Shortwood Road home at 10:30 p.m. with her nine-year-old niece when she saw two men searching her house.
"Mi pull di grille and di door an' when mi open it mi si two man an' one a dem 'hol a gun a mi head and tell mi nuh fi move," she said as she recounted the incident.
"Mi niece scream out an' run out a door an a scream an' one a di man dem run har dung an' grab har an' bring har inside and put wi fi kneel dung an' one a dem have di gun a mi head," she said.
The dancer said the men then demanded money and claimed a hit had been placed on her. She said after their demands were not met they started ransacking her house.
"Dem go in a mi room and pull out mi TV, mi DVD and video. Dem go out a door an put dem in a di car. Dem tek mi car key an' two a mi phone dem," she said.
Kieva said the men were unable to start the car and came back for her. She said while outside she saw one of the men unzipping his pants. It was then that she escaped by jumping a wall.
"Trust mi. mi couldn't deal wid dem a rape mi so mi did haffi jump di wall. When mi go ova it mi chip up di whole a mi foot," she said.
Kieva said her niece locked herself in the bathroom during the incident. She said none of her dancing trophies were taken during the incident.
"I think they just needed money. I feel good that they didn't take them but I feel better knowing that I have life because as long as I have life I will be able to get back the things that I lost," she said.
The Constant Spring Police have confirmed the incident. They said the thieves stole a television set as well as other items from the dancer's home. They said the 1995 Honda Civic owned by the dancer was also taken. It was later recovered near the home of the dancer. The police said they were yet to recover the rest of the items.
Keiva said she has been recovering from the ordeal because of encouragement she received from Elephant Man's mother as well as her friends and family.
Still Kieva is not bitter towards the men who gained entry to her house by removing a window blade.
"Mi not even deh tink bout getting revenge," she said. "Mi just a leave dem to God because I am a blessed person an' mi neva do nobody anyting so I know God will bless me," she said.
