Constable shot and injured

A POLICE CONSTABLE was shot and injured after gunmen fired at a police patrol in Cross Pen, Tredegar Park, St. Catherine on Friday.

According to police reports, at about 5:00 p.m., a police party was on patrol in the area when they saw a group of men armed with guns.

The police accosted the men who opened fire at them. The police returned the fire and the men ran leaving behind a 12 gauge shotgun.

After the shooting subsided it was discovered that the Constable was shot and injured. He was taken to the hospital where he was treated. The Spanish Town police are investigating.
