ENGLISH CHAMPIONSHIP Southampton have completed the signing of Jamaican striker Ricardo Fuller, who will now re-unite with former boss Harry Redknapp.
The 25-year old Fuller passed a medical on Thursday and signed a two-year deal with the club just one day after Southampton and his former club Portsmouth agreed on a transfer fee.
Fuller still needs to secure a work permit from the British Home Office before he can take up the contract worth an initial 90, 000 pounds sterling, with an additional 250,000 due if Southampton gain promotion to the Premiership. Redknapp, who oversaw Fuller's transfer from Preston North End to Portsmouth as manager at the South England club, said he was happy to have the forward on his roster.
"I am delighted to have got him. I know him well and he is a good player for a very minimal outlay," Redknapp told Southampton's website.
"He has proved himself at this level and he will be a real handful. No-one has an easy game against him."
He added: "Ideally, I would still like to sign another striker. I have no-one in mind at the moment but I will have a look around and see what comes up."
Fuller spent one season at Portsmouth before being put on the market after scoring just one goal in 37 appearances.
