THE TRIAL OF Dale Stafford Brown did not get under way as planned on Wednesday after the accused collapsed while in the docks.
Brown had pleaded not guilty to the charges of uttering forged documents, attempting to obtain and conspiracy.
When his trial was about to begin on Wednesday, Brown, armed with a transparent bag filled with asthma pumps and other medication, collapsed and appeared to bleeding from the mouth. He was rushed to the hospital without a date being set for his trial to begin.
Allegations against Brown are on Tuesday, May 31, Brown wrote a letter to Singer Jamaica Limited's head office, allegedly signed by Father John Solomon of St. Osamand's Church and Children's Home of a Rema address, requesting a donation amounting to $60,030 worth of galvanised zinc to repair the roof of the alleged home.
Numerous calls were made by someone purporting to be Father John Solomon to Singer's head office. The accused subsequently visited the office claiming to be the bearer of Father John Solomon.
On the third occasion when Brown visited the office, he was apprehended by officers of the Organised Crime Investigations Division.
Investigations revealed that no such home existed. When questioned, he claimed it was his friend who had written the letter because he (Brown) was suffering and in need of help.
Brown, who has a severe case of asthma, appeared with a number of asthma pumps in a transparent scandal bag, while he puffed another.
