TRUTH OR LIE, a sordid tale about a gang of homosexual rapists running riot in the Valley of St. Thomas Ye Vale, St. Catherine, has consumed the grapevines of the communities.
While police have heard about and investigated the rumours they have not been able to confirm the allegations about a four-man band of rapists stalking males.
Yet, the story throughout the length and breadth of Ewarton and Linstead is consistent, clear and convincing.
The story: Four large muscular men (allegedly deportees) drive in the rural towns and by-ways at night seeking to capture men with nets. They rape their prey after capture.
The result: Few men on the roads at night.
Residents say the gang started attacking men in the communities a few weeks ago. Since then, nightlife in the rural areas has not been the same.
"Bway a pure man di man dem go afta a night time. Even if dem a walk wid woman dem tek weh di man an' lef di woman," said a resident of Ewarton.
The men reportedly abduct their victims by using a huge net which is thrown over their heads. They are then dragged into the car. It is said that the men are then taken to an area in Ewarton where they are sexually assaulted and released.
"A whole heap a man di man dem tek weh but some get weh dat's why dem know seh dem big and muscular," said a man in Ewarton.
Residents report that to date they have been successful in catching at least four men in the community.
"Dem tek weh a man de other day when him a walk wid him wife an' carry him go rape him. A whole heap a tings dem a gwaan wid," said another resident.
The residents said in one instance, a vendor was sexually assaulted one night while on his way home. Then, there was the case of a man who was also abducted while on his way to work.
While residents have such intimate detail of the rape cases no one was able to point THE STAR in the direction of a victim of the homosexual rapists.
"Since it start happen di road empty a night time. All a di man dem gone in from early. Is like everybody catch them fraid. All man wha claim seh dem tough a go home early," a resident of the area told THE STAR.
When contacted both the Linstead and Ewarton ppolice said they had heard of the mobile rapists. But, neither of the two stations have received any official reports.
The Ewarton police said they have gone as far as checking where the men were said to be carried but saw no signs of criminal activities in the area.
