Weak-kneed

Dear Pastor,

I have been crazily in love with a guy for the past three years. He loves me and is going to marry me. I really love him but I am unfaithful and I hate myself because of this.

Sometimes I wish I could die because I hurt him and he never did anything to hurt me. The situation is killing me, but no matter how hard I try, I can't say no to the other guy. I want to tell my boyfriend, but I am scared because I don't want to lose him. I need your help because I really love him.

I want to stop being unfaithful and get married. My boyfriend does things for me that no other guy would do. He feels my pain, he cries whenever I am hurt and he goes out of his way to make me happy. I don't want to lose him because I love him too much. I feel like dying because at least I won't be able to hurt him if I were dead. It is not fair that I keep hurting him quietly and yet, whenever I am around him, I pretend to be the world's best girlfriend.

I cry whenever I see the other guy knowing that whenever my boyfriend calls I have to tell him that I love him. Can you offer some counselling? I hate myself and I do not want to keep hurting the person I love most.

Dear Frustrated,

Evidently you are weak towards this other guy. Therefore, you should stop seeing him. Both of you should never be alone. That would lessen the temptation to have sex with him. I am sure that if you were to tell your boyfriend that you are going to bed with another man, he would leave you. What you need to do instead, is to stop seeing this fellow if you are serious about not playing games.
