Camouflage takes a HIDING

THE PARKING LOT, like the venue, was sparse.

"A weh de people dem deh, dis a really one camouflage party fi real cause it look like the people dem a hide. Nobody no deh ya", one patron reacted while walking through the parking lot to the scanty 'Camouflage' venue. The party was held at the Mas Camp Village, Oxford Road, New Kingston, last Saturday night.

The event which was put on by Hard Rock Entertainment promised great entertainment with the likes of Aidonia and Busy Signal appearing live.

However, this was not the case.

When THE STAR arrived at the venue some minutes to 12 a.m., the tell-tail signs of a potential flop was all too clear. To pick, choose and refuse parking spaces inside the Mas Camp should never be an option after 10 p.m. for any session being held there.

In addition, there were no long lines of patrons bundling to get into the venue and finally upon entering, there was a vast empty space with only a few patrons standing around to the side.

Many persons appeared disappointed at the prospects for the party, especially since in comparison, the previously held Camouflage party last year featured entertainers like Assassin and Vybz Kartel.

Nevertheless, the music was great, despite the fact that there were not many people to enjoy it. For the handful of patrons who dare to come out, however, DJ Snurf of Hot 102 FM ensured that they maintained a steady bounce for the duration of the time. Tunes like Gone til November by Wyclef Jean, Anything goes by Wayne Wonder and Lexus. Vitamin S by Baby Cham, Weddy time by Voise Mail and Attitude by Blacker were just a few of the tracks that DJ Snurf spun to keep patrons from turning towards the exit.

At 2 a.m. the handful of patrons who were scattered about the venue drew close to the stage to witness the Finesse Models strut their stuff in designs from Imeje Wear.

The show was not much substitute for the lack of live entertainment, however, and the patrons went back to listening the music.

At some minutes to 3 a.m. in the morning, the selectors were ordered to turn the music down and as they did this, the patrons turned toward the exit.
