Several injured in attempted car theft

A MAN'S ATTEMPT to steal a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) from a temporary worker at the WINDALCO Bauxite plant in Ewarton, St. Catherine, ended when police intercepted the car which had crashed into a white Toyota Corolla motor car.

A driver and a few passengers were injured in the accident.

According to the police, at about 4:00 p.m. the man stole the SUV with a male passenger still inside. The police were summoned and they intercepted the car which crashed into the motor car before stopping.

The injured persons were taken to the Linstead hospital where they were treated. The thief escaped but the police have recovered the vehicle and continue to investigate the matter.
