THE EDITOR, Madam:
Since the retirement of Dr. Randolph Watson in 2000 from Bethlehem Moravian Church College, I have been calling on the relevant authority to place a national honour on him, but to date my cries from the classroom has been in vain.
I make no secret of the fact that it can be construed as a modest exaggeration that I worship him. However, this respect and admiration stems from the contribution he has made to education in Jamaica.
Each year when I look at the list of awardees, some of whom I know personally, and I don't see the name Randolph Nathaniel Watson Ph.D., my heart bleeds. Now, don't get me wrong, I am not the least suggesting that these honourees are not deserving of these awards. All I am saying is that Dr. Watson, in my view, has done far more and is more deserving of a national honour.
Let us, therefore, move quickly to honour this man who has served his country for many years and has served well. His credentials and his antecedents can stand the glare of public inspection.
I am, etc.,
ANDRE WELLINGTON
