LEON SMALL OF Bucknor district, Clarendon, was charged on Tuesday for the murder of his common-law wife Carlene Dawkins, after the two were reportedly involved in a domestic dispute that ended in bloodshed on July 10, 2005.
Allegations are that Small and Dawkins were involved in a domestic dispute when a knife was used to stab her several times all over her body. A machete was then used to chop her and a hammer was used to beat her in her head.
It is reported that during the incident, Small was stabbed in the neck. He was admitted to hospital in stable condition under police guard.
The couple is reported to have had a long history of domestic disputes which usually led to violent clashes. A source close to the couple told THE STAR Dawkins was repeatedly warned to end the union with Small but refused to do so. The source explained that the two always managed to get back together.
"All di while him go back fi har, as soon as dem mash up. See it deh now, she dead, and him caan go back fi har," the source said.
Detective Corporal Garth Mitchelin of the Clarendon Homicide Unit is investigating the matter.
