PETER DUGAL, THE man charged with the double murder of Lloyd G. Brown, the former president of the Jamaica Gasolene Retailers Association (JGRA) and his fiancee, Sandra Campbell, was remanded in custody when he appeared in court yesterday.
Dugal, 39, appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Gun Court to answer to charges of two counts of murder and illegal possession of firearm. He was remanded until July 20, when his case will again be mentioned.
The allegations are that Brown, 62, and Campbell, 49, were killed on Sunday, June 6 at 4 a.m., at Campbell's home in Stony Hill, St. Andrew. Their bodies were later discovered with gunshot wounds.
Later that afternoon the police went to premises in Vineyard Town, St. Andrew, where Dugal and a group of men are alleged to have engaged them in a shoot-out. During the incident, reports are that Dugal was shot and injured and two firearms taken from him.
It is reported that forensic tests done on the guns found on the scene proved that one of them was used to murder Brown and Campbell.
Dugal was taken to hospital for treatment. He was charged upon release.
