Man given a 'crack' at freedom

western bureau

A man who told the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court last Tuesday he started taking crack cocaine about three months ago due to frustrations was offered bail in the sum of $30,000 with surety.

Clive Myers had his sentencing postponed after he appeared before Resident Magistrate Winsome Henry last week. Myers was held with 11 pieces of the cream-coloured substance in a multi-coloured pen along Harvey Beach in the Coral Gardens area on June 26.

While pleading guilty to possession, he denied he was a dealer and said he had the drugs for his own use.

Senior Resident Magistrate Winsome Henry ordered a probation report to be done on him to determine whether he was suitable for the Drug Court programme.

While on bail he will report to the Coral Gardens Police Station once weekly and will return to court on August 2.
