Great work out at Gym and Juice

By RASBERT TURNER, Star Writer

spanish town:

THE LADIES AT 'Gym 'N' Juice' came prepared to work out on Saturday night. And, when THE STAR was leaving from all indications they had succeeded in burning a few calories.

The event which was in its fifth staging was probably the biggest yet. It transformed the roof of the Body Dynamic Gym in Portmore into a dancing alley with sweating bodies gyrating to the latest music played by the selectors.

When THE STAR arrived at the location at 11:00 p.m., there was a long line of patrons waiting to get into the venue. On the dance floor itself, the women were in their element dressed in revealing gym outfits and doing their best to burn a few extra calories that the alcohol would later provide.

Exercise classes

The ladies who were probably aware that they were in a gym took full advantage of their exercise classes by following the instructions of the music on the turntables. The names of the exercises in this segment were the 'Ivan', 'Pon di River', 'Part di Crowd', among others. Host Kurt Riley and other selectors belted out a string of instructions in their 80s and 90s music as the audience simply lapped up everything.

The ladies were especially busy on the dance floor, posing in the most imaginable way to the glare of the still and video cameras on hand. This left their male counterparts literally salivating.

Those who did not want to dance crowded the area of the bar as the available beverages on hand provided the cooling down. The tempo peaked when Kurt Riley introduced Voise Mail. For 20 minutes, the group continued the exercise class with their dance moves and several songs. Among them Weddy Time and Weddy Time II.

They departed too soon. However, the music played on and the patrons kept pouring into the venue. Soon after it was just a sea of sweating bodies with no place to move as the venue was full to capacity.

When THE STAR left the venue at 3:00 a.m.,patrons were still entering the venue, proving that the promoters had done their homework this time around.
