High school trio in CAC Senior squad

THREE HIGH SCHOOL athletes, Kingston College's Alain Bailey and Holmwood's pair of Sonita Sutherland and Anastasia Le-Roy are included in Jamaica's squad for the 20th Central America and Caribbean Track & Field Championships in Nassau, Bahamas.

High and long jumper Bailey, 400m runner Sutherland and Le-Roy will be making their first senior team trip.

They will have World Junior 200m record holder Usain Bolt and Olympic Games bronze medallist Tayna Lawrence as their teammates.

Bolt heads the men's team, which includes Brandon Simpson, national 400m champion Lansford Spence and Chris Pinnock while Lawrence, who won the 100m bronze at the 2000 Sydney Olympic, leads Beverly McDonald, a World Champion-ships silver medallist, Michelle Freeman and Debbie-Ann Parris-Thymes.

The squad departs the island on July 6 for the championships, which starts on the eighth and runs until July 11.
