Alleged drug dons to be extradited

DESPITE MONTHS OF arguments presented by both the defence and prosecution attorneys, all six alleged drug dons whom the United States Government wanted extradited on drug trafficking charges, were ordered extradited Thursday when they appeared before Resident Magistrate's Martin Gayle in the Corporate Area RM Court.

The accused men, Norris 'Deedo' Nembhard, a St. Ann businessman; Vivian Dalley; Corporal Herbert Henry; Luis Miguel Arias, a Colombian barber; Robroy 'Spy' Williams and Glenford Williams, who have been in custody since last year April 21, have 15 days in which to appeal the court's decision. In the meantime, they are being housed at the Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre.

Nembhard, named as a drug kingpin by U.S. President George Bush last year June, fought being extradited to the U.S., where he is wanted on several drug related charges. Earlier this year, Nembhard's lawyer, Frank Phipps argued that his client would not receive a fair trial if he were extradited to the US.
