SIZZLA, CAPLETON, ELEPHANT Man and Lady Saw were announced as the headliners for Dancehall Night of Red Stripe Reggae Sumfest 2005 when the line-up for the 13th staging of the music festival was announced on Tuesday night.

The announcements were made at the Kabana on Hope Road in St. Andrew on Tuesday night.

The four will lead the charge on the opening main venue night of Red Stripe Reggae Sumfest 2005 at Catherine Hall. Also on the roster for Dancehall Night are Turbulence, Sasha, Assassin, Macka Diamond, Kip Rich, I Wayne, Voise Mail, Spice, Bascom X, Ann Shakes, Okonko, Fire Lion and Shane O, with Venom being one of the supporting bands of the night.

The entire festival is in Montego Bay, St. James, from Sunday, July 17, with an opening Beach Party at the Rose Hall Beach Club, to the closing International Night II at the Catherine Hall main venue on Saturday, July 23.

Two of the festival's overseas guests, Ciara and Akon, perform on International Night I, with Fabolous, a headliner on International Night II.

Morgan Heritage returns to Sumfest after a five-year absence for International Night I, with singers Luciano, Sanchez, Richie Spice, Mackie Conscious and Nash Lawson on the line-up, with the SANE Band doing some of the backing duties.

Worl' a reggae

Ini Kamoze, whose 'Worl' a Reggae Music' is the musical basis for Damian 'Jnr. Gong' Marley's hit 'Jamrock', will be on International Night II, with Marley also performing, along with brother Stephen. Grammy winners Toots and the Maytals, Tami Chynn, Tarrus Riley and the C Sharp Band complete the line-up, with the SANE Band again on the stand.

The vintage music night, reintroduced at Club Inferno in Ironshore last year to great success, has been moved closer into the heart of the city and will be at Pier 1 on Wednesday, July 20, as 'Rockers Night'. John Holt, Gregory Isaacs, Alton Ellis, Judy Mowatt, the Mighty Diamonds, Charlie Chaplin, Josey Wales, General Trees, Pinchers, Brent Dowe and Jimmy Riley will perform to the music of the SANE Band.

The sound system night, called 'Dance Class' for the past two years, has not made the cut this year and the turntable wizards will be in full effect only on the opening Beach Party at the Rose Hall Beach Club on Sunday, July 17.

It will be a mixture of live and recorded music, as the Pace Band will play, while DJ Squeeze, Soul 2 Soul, Arif Cooper, Code Red and Soul Faith will supply the recorded music.

The winner of this year's Red Stripe IRIE FM Big Break Competition will be performing their winning song at the festival.

This year's sponsors are Red Stripe, Cable & Wireless, Air Jamaica, the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB), Bigga, Wata, Ocean Spray, Holiday Inn, Half Moon, Wyndham, CVM Communi-cations Group, BET Jazz, RJR, FAME, Radio 92, IRIE FM, RealVibes.net, Comtech, Courts, Pay Pak and Continental Airlines.
