When it's just too good to be true

A STORY IN last Friday's STAR spoke about a drug scam done over the telephone which was seeking to provide potential drug dealers with illicit drugs at an 'affordable' price.

The story stated that by calling a particular number one could get drugs to buy. However when the unsuspecting person goes to finish the deal, they are robbed.

The Narcotics Division said they have made a few arrests in connection with the scam, however it seems to have persisted as the division said it has been going on for a few years.

One must wonder if the people who have been tricked deserve their fate. They tried to buy illegal drugs from an unknown source and were robbed when they went to complete the deal.

It is worrying that in a time when cost of living is said to be sky high and unemployment continues to climb, that people would quickly give away their hard earned cash to some unknown person to make some quick money.

The persons who created this scam must have made millions by now if the figures stated in the story are what is being transacted on a regular basis.

As a people who are strapped for resources, we need to be making smarter decisions about how we spend our money.

It is hoped that the rest of us level-headed Jamaicans will be more cautious and avoid these scams that are too good to be true.
