The Thompson twins. - ian allen
DANIELLE JADE THOMPSON and Daneal Janea Thompson are identical in their appearance but are quite different in personality.
The twin bundle was born 45 minutes apart on March 17, 2001. Their mother Hazel Henry, did not find out until the seventh month of her pregnancy that she was having twins when doctors discovered that what he had diagnosed as fibroids was actually another foetus.
"I did an ultra sound at two months and they said they saw fibroids and one foetus," she said. However, she said in the seventh month doctors said the foetus was growing too quickly and discovered that the fibroid was another foetus. "My pressure went up because I was preparing for one and now it turned out to be two."
Henry said in the early years, it was difficult to tell her daughters apart and she had in fact brought them home with the tags that were placed on them at the hospital so she could identify them. However she later found a pimple behind one of her daughters' ears and she used this to also assist in identifying them. She says she can now tell them apart although most people still cannot.
Henry says the two were difficult to care for when they were babies because they required a lot of work. "In the night one would wake at like 10:00 and the other at 11:00 and then the first one would awake up again at 12 and it went on and on," she said.
However, she said, she was given some good advice by a nurse who told her to feed both at the same time thus removing some of the stress.
She said her daughters often fight but there is no need for anyone to intervene during their fuss. She said that they usually quickly make up and return to good friends after the fight.
She said her daughters love to be dressed alike and given similar hairstyles. She added that sometimes they also give similar answers to questions. Both girls attend the Ensom Basic School in Spanish Town, St. Catherine.
Daneal who is the younger is described as the more outspoken and also tends to speak proper English. She is said to often correct her sister when she speaks patois.
