THE POLICE HAVE held a 58-year-old man in connection with the rape and murder of six-year-old Shaneika Anderson.
According to an officer of the East Kingston Division, the man was taken into custody last week Friday, and is to face an identification parade this week.
The suspect is the second to be taken into custody, after the first was released more than a month ago, when the forensic results did not link him to the crime.
Shaneika went missing when she went to the Coronation market in Kingston with her mother on Saturday, April 30.
Her body was found the following day in Rae Town, Kingston, by a young boy who was searching for his dog.
The police report said that Shaneika appeared to have been sexually assaulted before she was strangled to death.
