SPANISH TOWN'S MAYOR Raymoth Notice resigned yesterday after a meeting with Leader of the Opposition, Bruce Golding, James Robertson, Karl Samuda and other members of the party hierarchy.
Notice, who on Wednesday was admonished and discharged in a case of assault brought against him by his wife, and whose vehicle police have seized in connection with a murder, said he took the decision because of moral values.
"I will be around but will be doing other work than that of a mayor," he said.
Devon Wint, councillor for the Point Hill division believes the mayor made the right decision.
"I think Mayor Notice did what he had to do, what he sees as the moral value at this point, and I commend him on making such a brave decision. It takes a real man to do that," he said.
Meanwhile, police, who seized the mayor's vehicle, say they are seeking two men in connection with the murder of Otis Doyley of High Mountain, St. Catherine.
The vehicle was taken for forensic tests to be done on blood that was found inside.
The police say their investigations have found that the vehicle was used to transport the two men, who the police believe can help with their investigations.
