MPs pretend to serve
THE EDITOR, Madam: Members of Parliament are supposed to be distinguished personnel who represent people for the different constituencies. They are supposed to be servants of the people they represent, but in the Jamaican context, they give the impression that John Public is their servant. The constituency of North Western St. Ann has been neglected by all our Members of Parliament, past and present. The MP continues to remain, since elected, on the missing persons list. Fortunately or unfortunately, she is always present at funerals. I suppose, rest in peace, is more comfortable, than relaxing in pieces, considering that the neglected infrastructures and amenities, in the constituency, make it almost impossible to relax. It would be good for her to experience a drive in that long river bed, from Knapdale to Runaway Bay, and try to understand or imagine how in God's name, people move to and fro on those almost impossible and disastrous roads, not fit for a donkey to use. There is so much work to be done that the poor woman won't know where to start. I am, etc., TREVOR RADWAY Knapdale Dist. Brown's Town
