THE SAINT INTERNATIONAL produced Fashionblock, held at the centre of Knutsford Boulevard on Sunday, raised temperatures literally.
The much anticipated and much hyped Fashionblock, was the final activity and an appropriate end for Style Week Jamaica.
Designers showcased their Spring Summer 2006 collections to an eager crowd of hundreds of Jamaicans in the middle of the street.
Designs came from Shemdeeke, Terry Nicholson, Ande Sew, Yolande Bennett, Ray Lindo, Chris Pablo, Minka, Les Campbell, Roland Bascomb, Neah Lis, Yola Gray, Siim, Carlton Brown, Rykii Jude, Clinton Smith, Gia Marie, Roger Gary (Aqua Couture), and Dexter Pottinger (3D).
The excitement was palpable despite the heat that enveloped everyone on the ground; the raw energy of the show evident throughout, even on some of the most undemonstrative models.
As they strutted and shimmied down the 110 foot catwalk in a show that at times seemed more about the spectacle than about the fashion; screams, catcalls and cheers could be heard, sometimes overcoming the animated stylings of MC Jerry D.
But the sheer entertainment value was undeniable. Even at the end of a long show, persons were reluctant to leave Knutsford Boulevard, intent of soaking up the music of Coppershot.
Here are some of the designs which made the night at Fashionblock.
