Woman injured in bus shooting

GUNMEN YESTERDAY OPENED fire on a Hiace minibus travelling along Mountain View Avenue, injuring a 45-year-old woman.

The Mountain View police have not released the name of the injured woman but said she was a passenger in the front of the vehicle when the incident took place yesterday afternoon. They, however, said that the woman was not from the area.

High-powered weapons

According to police reports, the bus was travelling in a northerly direction along the road when on reaching the intersection with Thorbourne Avenue about 10 men carrying high-powered weapons opened fire on the vehicle damaging the front.

The police said during the incident the woman was shot in the face and is now a patient at the Kingston Public Hospital.

The police said the incident has left the area tense and very few vehicles have used the road since the shooting.

The Mountain View police are investigating the incident.
