MAKYN THE NEWS

DOVER IS A small rural community on the border of Portland and St Mary. There I saw something that was very inspiring a group of young men playing cricket.

It was a training session for students of the Windsor Castle All-Age. They were being assisted by a young cricketer, Horace Grossette, who attends the Buff Bay Comprehensive. He also is a parish representative. Grossette aspires to play for Jamaica, and maybe the West Indies later in his career.

I observed him giving instructions to students in the correct bowling and batting techniques. Moreover, he did that by example.

Young Grossette decided to teach the youngsters, he says, because they did not have a coach so he volunteered to give a hand, sharing some of his experiences. Hopefully, both Grossette and the students of Windsor Castle will be successful, and may some day be the answer for our current West Indies problem.
