Electrician extradited

AN ELECTRICIAN, WHO fled the Cayman Islands before his sentencing on rape and indecent assault charges last year, waived his right to a local hearing when he appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's court on Friday.

The accused man, Robert "Sammy" Walker signed an extradition order to face his sentence, made in his absence. He is to serve eight years behind bars.

The court learnt that on April 15, 2004, Walker, said to be originally from Hermitage Road, St. Andrew, absconded bail and went to St. Thomas. He was picked up by local police on Thursday.
