WALDERSTON

A POLICEMAN STATIONED at the Police Academy in Twickenham Park, St. Catherine, died in hospital on Wednesday, after a motor vehicle accident on the Melrose Hill highway in Manchester.

Constable A. Simpson of the Mandeville Traffic Department, said at about 2:45 p.m. Constable Roger Barrett was riding a Honda CBR 600 motorcycle towards Porus when he failed to negotiate a curve and collided with a Nissan Frontier motor car.

The badly damaged car, owned by Jamaica Broilers, was being driven by Mrs. Selena Legister-Kellier who received slight injuries.

Constable Simpson say Barrett was taken to the Mandeville Regional Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment. The deceased sustained head injuries although he was wearing a crash helmet.
