RECENTLY, TOOTS HIBBERT (of Toots and the Maytals) was shown more appreciation for his dedicated work and contribution to music in Jamaica, when he was presented an award at the launch of Festival 2005.
Toots, who had two winning festival songs, Bam Bam and Sweet And Dandy, says he felt good about the award, as it was pleased that persons felt the need to show their love and appreciation for the work that he had been doing.
"The award is a good thing, for everybody to know that I do good work as a Jamaican, and it encourages me to keep singing good songs for the Jamaican people. My parents grew me up to have good manners and so I want to please everyone," Toots said.
Toots, who brought the curtains down at the festival's launch on Thursday, May 19 at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre, performed his two winning festival songs in fine style.
