Rain dampens 'Short Shorts'

THE RAIN WAS the ultimate winner in the first of the 'Ultimate Fridays' sessions staged last Friday at Devon House, Hope Road, St. Andrew.

However, despite the early heavy showers and the damp and misty atmosphere, some female patrons still wore their rump-hugging, leg-revealing short shorts. After all they were at a party dubbed 'The Short Shorts Party'.

Taking into consideration the heavy downpour earlier, the organisers of the event should have at least taken some comfort in the moderate turnout.

That seemed to be as far as the celebrations went, however, because the 'vibes' were somewhat lacking.

High-tempo music

The 'Party Animal', Kurt Riley and the Coppershot family delivered high-tempo music but the audience really did not respond. The music, though skilfully mixed, did not do enough to tantalise the party nerves. And, as the night crept on, it became obvious that it would take some real effort to change the energy level.

While the number of persons in the venue grew as the hours flew by, it appeared as if everyone had left his/her partying spirits elsewhere. For several of the male patrons it was merely about standing, bobbing their heads to the music and occasionally feasting their eyes on the females who were revealing a bit of skin.

Then, unfortunately, at about 1:45 a.m. just as the energy seemed on the verge of building, the skies opened up again, forcing the patrons to seek shelter. Again the energy level dipped as the patrons waited for the showers to ease.

For a few, however, it was partying despite the unfavourable conditions.

The party series continues this Friday at the same location with the staging of 'Candy Shop Ladies Rule'.
