Man remanded on gun, ammo charges

By RASBERT TURNER, Star Writer

DWAYNE 'BIGGA WAYNE' Morrison of Demshire Pen, St. Catherine, was remanded in the Spanish Town RM Court on Tuesday on a charge of illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

The court heard that on April 27, police, acting on intelligence, went to Morrison's house where they found an AR18 assault rifle with 36 5.56 cartridges, and a Taurus revolver with six .38 cartridges, wrapped in a sheet under a bed.

Morrison's attorney, Carlton Callman, told the court his client was beaten by some members of the police party. He also accused the police of going back into the area while Morrison was in custody and telling residents that Morrison is calling names, which has placed his client's life in jeopardy. Resident Magistrate Lorna Errar Gayle remanded Morrison until May 27, at which time he is to appear in the Gun Court .
