THIRTY-FIVE-YEAR old Kevan Hamilton of Waterford, St. Catherine will reappear in the Spanish Town RM Court on June 7 to answer to charges of breaches of the Firearms Act.
Detective Inspector Carl Malcolm told RM Nicole Simmonds in the Spanish Town RM Court that on April 19 this year, at about 10:20 p.m., the police carried out an operation in the Waterford area of St. Catherine when premises owned by Hamilton, who is a licensed firearm holder, was searched.
During the search, 236 live rounds of 9mm cartridges were found. He was arrested and charged with illegal possession of ammunition.
Inspector Malcolm pointed out that it was illegal for Hamilton to have more than 50 rounds in his possession at any one time. When Hamilton appeared in court yesterday he pleaded guilty.
He was, however, granted $80,000 bail after pleas from his attorney Windel Wellessley. The bail was granted on condition that he surrenders his travel documents and report to the Waterford police once per week.
