MR LEX HAS been making some changes in his life recently, and he started with his name.
The deejay, who brought us memorable numbers like 'Full Hundred', 'Recipe Book' under the name Lexxus, is now known as either the 'Prince', or 'Mr Lex.'
The deejay who started as Lexxus switched to the name Mr Lex a few years ago, but told THE STAR recently that he will use both the names 'Prince' and 'Mr Lex' now, to add to his flair as a deejay.
"Mi a use two of them still, any one will do now, but you done know the 'prince' is to reflect the new flavour for this year and the new attitude," he stated.
This new flair Mr Lex added, included a new approach to his music. He started by re-hiring his former manager, Earlton Clarke of E-Mar Entertainment to steer his career, and he has been steadily recording several new tracks for the local dancehalls.
Excitement
"From the year start, we decide we a come back with a new flair, and a new type of flow," he noted. "The business kind of slow down little bit so we a come with some excitement, some new flow yu understand," he stated about the changes.
Asked why he named himself the 'Prince', Mr Lexx offered a practical yet humourous reason.
"Everybody waa be the king of the dancehall, nobody wants to be the prince, so me seh why not be the prince?" he asked.
Mr Lexx said that he plans to storm the dance halls this year, with several different types of tracks and a renewed attitude to the music. He kicks off a summer loaded with activities with a tour beginning this Friday in Florida. After the tour, he plans to release his album Kingston's Finest on the VP Records Label.
