FORMER VILLAGE UNITED ace striker Fabian Dawkins was in devastating form last weekend, scoring two beautifully executed goals against the Virginia Mariners in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Dawkins opened his account in the 56th minute when using his lightning pace he out sprinted the Mariners defence and blasted the ball home past the hapless keeper. His second came in the 78th minute when Christopher Stone also formerly of Village United F.C. made a brilliant dribble down the left flank and sent in a well directed cross which Dawkins controlled in his stride and comfortably slotted home.
Losing effort
Dawkins holds the distinction of being the only Jamaican to score in the finals of a World Youth Championship. He did so in 2001 against Argentina in the Under-21 World Championship held in that country. That goal came in a losing effort.
Dawkins and Christopher Stone both play for The Atlanta Silverbacks based in Atlanta, USA. The win came against the Virginia Mariners for whom Village United and National representative Teofore Bennett plays along with Warren Ukah also of Village United.
In a post game interview, Dawkins expressed his delight to be scoring goals at this level and looks forward to continue improving his game.
