GLENMUIR HIGH SENT The Queen's School crashing out the TVJ's Schools' Challenge Quiz 2005 competition.
Queen's did not go down without a fight but lost to a very relaxed, confident and closely-knit Glenmuir team. Glenmuir easily took the lead in the first segment, finishing at 9-4.
The second segment saw Queen's picking it up a notch, aggressively answering their questions but Glenmuir went into overdrive leaving them in a trail of smoke. Queen's seemed to have lost bearings as they were unable to score in their final minute in segment two. The segment ended 27-18.
Buzzer segment
Glenmuir took the buzzer segment by storm but managed to gain as many points as were lost. A composed and determined Queen's tried hard but in the end just managed to gain a point as the match ended 27-20.
Queen's Captain, Nicola Rose was proud of her team making it that far. "Nobody thought we'd reach this far." Teammate Jamilee Chin cherishes the experience saying, "At the end of the day there are no losers as we have all gained from participating."
Coach Thaddeus Davis considered the match a good one, and was proud the girls were able to make a comeback after a bad start. "It was a good effort. They didn't misrepresent any expectations of them by me or by the school."
Clayton McCalla, Glenmuir's coach wasn't contented with the team's performance in the buzzer section but was glad for the opportunity to now regain the title. "We can still fine tune and sharpen 'cause we still have a week before the semis," he said.
Next match: Clarendon College up against Calabar High.
