JAMAICA'S WOMEN volleyballers last night swept past the Netherland Antilles in straight sets, advancing to the second round of the North, Central America and the Caribbean Confederation qualifying for the World Championships.
The 'Riddim Girlz' started sharp, winning the first set 25-19 then proceeded to exude even more dominance with 25-18 and finally 25-11 scorelines.
After what was Jamaica's third victory in as many games, Jamaica's head coach, Ortnell Findlay, said he was surprised at the ease with which his team was able to win.
"We definitely thought that they would have put up some more resistance. After a bad game yesterday we spoke about what we needed to do today and thank god the girls came today and executed," he said.
Jamaica will now turn their focus to Santo Domingo where they will again play in a four team group.
In that round crunning from August 24 to 28,Jamaica will have to contend with the hosts, the Dominican Republic, Cuba, who have already won the World Championships, and Costa Rica. The top three teams will qualify for the World Championships.
