IN LITTLE LANE, Central Village it is more common for people to hear that six were shot dead than for six people to die of illness. But a month ago, six people from the community suddenly died of natural causes in the space of eight days.
One resident collapsed while walking downtown and died. A few days later Benjamine Thomas died 14 days after he turned 101 from ailments associated with old age. By Saturday, four more residents including 18-year-old Ricardo Roberts died of natural causes.
The other three deceased are Rupert Lovelace, and Errol Williams and another resident whose name THE STAR was unable to ascertain because the family was overseas.
However, residents of the area say the deaths of so many residents by natural causes was certainly unusual. "This nuh happen. It strange fi so many people die from natural causes," one resident said.
Thomas' family did not have the farewell intended as he was burnt in a funeral home fire.
Roberts was the youngest of the six residents who died. He died four days after Thomas, however, THE STAR was still unable to ascertain the cause of death.
