By RASBERT TURNER, Star WriterSPANISH TOWN:A 31-YEAR-OLD woman and a 20-year-old man were promptly locked up by police yesterday after a loaf of bread which they were about to give a prisoner at a lock-up, turned out to be a loaf of ganja.
Joan Morris and Ricardo Stevens, both of Gorden Pen, St. Catherine, were arrested when they visited the Spanish Town Police lock-up to bring food for a relative who is a prisoner there.
They have been charged with possession of, and trafficking ganja.
Constable Samuel Lewis of the Spanish Town Police told THE STAR that Morris and Stevens came to look for an inmate at the lock up at about 1:00 p.m.
They took out a loaf of bread among other items to give to the prisoner. Upon examining the bread further, the police found out that a white paper container was inside it stuffed with ganja weighing about three ounces.
The two were then taken into custody and charged. They are to appear in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on April 19.
