DENNIS EDRAM WHO is alleged to have registered a car belonging to another person in his name after he was asked to return it was given three weeks to settle his legal representation.Edram, facing charges of larceny of a motor vehicle, asked the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court for a month when he appeared before RM Carolin Tie last week.
His bail was extended until April 15.
The allegations are that Edram registered a Toyota Corolla in his name transferring the title from a Tom Lanford last November. Three months after, both were dismissed from the company that owned the car.
The police are alleging that the complainant, Carl Erskine, who sold the car to an American registered company, PT Info Systems, was given power of attorney over the vehicle. He was also asked by the principals of the company, the court heard, to step in and secure other assets after Lanford was fired.
It was heard that he did not find the car and after some investigations, he found out that Edram had the vehicle and asked him several times in October to return it. The court heard that Edram said he would, but did not, and the police were called in some time in December.
On February 5, Erskine saw Edram and called the police who then found the car at a garage on Tate Street when it was also discovered that the license plates had also been switched. Checks were made with the Inland Revenue Department and it was discovered that the title of the car had been switched to Edram under the authorisation of a letter from Lanford.
